Your worth doesn't depend on your performance
Who am I? · Why am I here?
“God chose you, declared you holy, adopted you, redeemed you, and forgave you.”
Ephesians 1Are you glad to be who you are?
Self-worth is not a neutral feeling about yourself. It is a deep conviction that you are valuable for who you are — not for what you achieve. A person with a healthy sense of worth can walk through the pain of failure without being destroyed by it, enjoy their strengths, and hold their weaknesses with grace.
The world programs us with an evaluation system built on performance and the approval of others. That system offers fleeting moments of success, but it can never give you lasting significance.
What God says about you
He chose you
Before you were born, God already knew you and chose you.
He declared you holy
Not because of your perfection, but by His grace over your life.
He adopted you
You are God's child — not by merit, but by love.
He redeemed and forgave you
Your past does not define your worth before God.
Two systems, two outcomes
The world's system
- Your worth = your achievements
- You need the approval of others
- Failure defines you
- Satisfaction stays just out of reach
God's system
- Your worth is already given
- His love doesn't depend on your performance
- Failure cannot destroy you
- Peace that surpasses all understanding
A prayer
“Lord, help me see myself through Your eyes. May my sense of worth not depend on what I do or what others think of me, but on what You have already spoken over me. I am Yours — and that is enough. Amen.”
For this week
How can you live from your worth in God rather than from the pursuit of approval?
Identify one area where you seek outside approval, and surrender it in prayer.
Read Ephesians 1:3–7 and write down what God says about you.
Share with someone you trust how you see yourself today.
